As a Senior Product Designer at Gravity Sketch, I undertook this project to gain a better understanding of the shoe design process and build empathy with users. As someone who wasn't a 3D or industrial designer, this project was a challenge but it helped me gain a lot of knowledge and empathy.
The project's primary objective was to design a shoe that aligned with the company's vision and mission, met user needs, and could be efficiently manufactured. To achieve this objective, I followed a process that involved forming a design brief, creating mood boards, building a business case, ideation, sketching, and refining the final concept. The entire process took two weeks to complete.
I began the project by forming a design brief that outlined the project's objectives and target users. Next, I created mood boards to explore different design themes, colors, and materials. Based on the company's vision and mission, I built a business case for the shoe design that aligned with the company's values.
The ideation phase involved generating a range of concepts based on the design brief and mood boards. The most promising concepts were then sketched out to bring the designs to life. The final phase involved refining the selected concept, taking into account feedback from users, company stakeholders, and manufacturing considerations.
The expected outcomes of the NIKE Loop project were a deeper understanding of the end-to-end shoe design process, increased empathy with users, a shoe design that aligns with the company's vision and mission, and improved skills in ideation, sketching, and refining a concept.
Undertaking the NIKE Loop project was a rewarding experience for me as a Senior Product Designer at Gravity Sketch. It helped me gain a deeper understanding of the shoe design process, build empathy with users, and improve my skills in ideation, sketching, and refining a concept. I am proud to include this project in my portfolio as it showcases my ability to take on new challenges and deliver successful outcomes.
